Great Basin Soft Shelled Pinyon nuts have a much greater ratio of nut meat to shell than any other species and it is the pine nut for people seeking "the bang for their nut buck".
These are locally harvested U.S. pine nuts. These come from the Sierra Mountains in Nevada. They have a soft shell which make them easy to crack. They have a shelf life of several months. They need to be stored in a dry cool area. They can not be stored in any type of air tight container or they will go bad quickly. They are shipped raw and ready to roast.

We do everything we can to ensure that your pinenuts are fresh and tasty. We use a lot of methods to refine our pinenuts so only the best come out. Even though the season is only a few months of the year, remember that
YOU CAN STORE THEM! If you do not plan on eating them right away they will dry up and loose weight. There are two ways to store them:
The first way is to keep them in a dry cool area in a paper bag as listed above. If you do it this way, they will eventually dry up and get hard.
The second way is to freeze them. You can use any type of container. It doesnt really matter if you are freezing them. The only thing you need to be aware of is that after you get them out and thaw them, they will get moldy after a few days. The trick is to just thaw out what you want at the moment. They might have a different taste but if you roast them they should be just fine.
